Heavy Gauss Cannon

Here's a few pics of my recent work. Inspired by this and this, I used 4 Immortal Gauss Blasters to create one Heavy Gauss Cannon lookalike. It's longer and bulkier than the normal Heavy Gauss Cannon, and doesn't cost $10 a pop, so that's good.

This is very much VIP, many edges are pretty rough and it hasn't seen any green stuff. I'll definitely touch it up heavily before painting.

I am not sure if I should magnetize them (to make Destroyers convertible to Heavy Destroyers) or just assemble a few Heavies and leave the rest regular. The arm holding this weapon is very thin, not leaving enough room for a strong magnet to hold a weapon as heavy as this. I am leaning towards just gluing it on.

Oh, and I've finished a bunch of Warriors and Scarabs the other day but I'm yet to go through the pics and create an album. Expect that in a few days.

Here are the pics and thanks for looking!

Forbidden Stars Orks Done!

They're finally done. I got tired drawing flame jobs and checkerboard patters by the time I got to the ships so they're more plain. They don't see much play anyway, that's fine.

Thanks for looking!

Forbidden Stars Ork WIP - Boys and Nobs!

Here are the pics. On to painting the rest of the models. After these it shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm really proud of the flame job on the Nob's bases and the checkerboard stripe over their left eye. It's not as difficult as it seems, as our eyes are doing more work to create that pattern than my brush did. Those are just squarish blobs of black, arranged on a white line somewhat accurately but not really.

Thanks for looking!

Further Thoughts on Orks in Forbidden Stars

So I painted some more pieces and the green just doesn't work. The combination of red and green looks very Christmas-y.

But here's what I did and do like:

I think I'm going to proceed like this. Even though they're red, it's a different shade of red compared to World Eaters, and the yellow and steel certainly help differentiate.

Forbidden Stars Ork Theme?

I started working on my Orks finally. I painted one Boyz flag to test my idea out. I don't know. If I keep doing the Evil Sunz color scheme units will be recognizable but predominantly red and yellow. I'm not sure about this. I'll talk to different people and ask about their opinions before I proceed.

This was my inspiration (wonderfully painted by Battle Brush Studios), that would transfer really well to all Ork vehicles:

And here's what I did:

I basically took the same theme but added green whenever possible. I wanted to do this to tie them to the original color that the pieces should have, to make the game pieces cohesive. This might have backfired, as yellow+red+green results in too many bright colors. I don't know.

Thoughts?

More Necron Warriors

I assembled another batch of 20 Warriors. All but two have their legs repositioned, and I added green stuff necks to all of them. This let me assemble them in a more upright position.

I'm particularly proud of the running one. The brass rod replaces one of his shin rods and goes all the way through his thigh. The image is not taken from a good angle, but all the other pics I made were really blurry and unusable. Oh well.

On to the pics, and thanks for looking!

One More Annihilation Barge Done!

So I just finished another Annihilation Barge. You get stuff done so quickly when you're not painting scythes!

This is a permanent Annihilation Barge, it is not magnetized to double as a Command Barge. I already have one CB, and wanted to keep Overlord bits to use for a Destroyer Lord conversion somewhere down the line.

I also touched up on the old Barge, painting the inlays black on the wings and the central blue column.
